Assistant Professor,
Tenure-track Assistant Professor position in photography.
Responsibilities: The appointee is expected to teach in the
undergraduate and graduate program, and participate in the service,
activities, and contribute to the intellectual life of the department
and university.
Qualifications: A specialization in photography is required
along with an MFA or equivalent. The appointee is expected to have
a strong record of creative work with a deep commitment to their
own work. The applicant should have extensive knowledge of all formats
and techniques, must be fluent in digital media, and have a good
working knowledge of color printing. Teaching experience is required.
The applicant must demonstrate exceptional promise as a scholar
and teacher and the ability to contribute to the curriculum and
intellectual life of the department. Administrative experience and
experience in developing a photographic curriculum desirable.
Starting Date: Fall quarter 2006.
Salary: Commensurate with experience with Assistant Professor
ranks at the University of California.
General Information: The art studio program consists of 12.0
faculty with expertise in painting; printmaking; video, electronic
and digital arts; drawing; sculpture; and ceramic sculpture. The
core faculty interacts with a much larger number of UC Davis faculty
on a variety of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary research
and teaching
activities. The department faculty teach core courses in the undergraduate
major, and are also active in the graduate program teaching seminars,
doing independent and group studies. The faculty are also expected
to be active in public, University, and Departmental service.
